10dp5dt – mood swing

April 27, 2013

I noticed that my mood has not been stable lately. Google told me that I am not alone; mood swings during pregnancy are common. I am excited about being pregnant, but I also feel stressed and overwhelmed. I also start worried about if I might do something wrong to the little tiny bean in my belly – for example, I was worried that if my sneeze and cough might hurt the baby; I also worried about my sleeping position, the food I am eating…etc.

What should I do about my mood swings?

It is important to understand you are not alone; mood swings are just another aspect of the pregnancy experience. Knowing that what you are experiencing is normal and somewhat expected may help you cope. The following list includes ways to manage your stress level:

  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Take a break during the day to relax
  • Get regular physical activity – yes!
  • Eat well
  • Spend time with your partner – yes!
  • Take a nap.
  • Go for a walk – yes!
  • See a movie with a friend
  • Don’t be so hard on yourself – that’s so right!
  • Try pregnancy yoga class or meditation
  • Get a massage
